Default Guages don't work!

Alright guys, this one might get ya stuck. My 93 has some serious problems as far as wiring goes...but one thing that puzzles me is the instrument cluster! The speedometer, tach, odometer, and the fuel gauge dont work.....but the voltage meter, oil pressure and temp gauges work perfectly...ive replaced the whole cluster twice and rewired the whole thing! The next weird thing is, when i changed out my fuel pump, the entire cluster worked for about 2 days, then went back to doing its crap. Ive asked lots of mechanic shops and said it would probably cost a minimum of 500 bucks to do it, yeah right, I wanna figure it out.. any similar problems or ideas or anything? Thanks!

Derek

With the ignition on wiggle the wires and push them in more behind the fuse box under the dash and see if it makes anything work.
I found the same problem on a customers 92 at work and I didn't charge 500 bucks lol
Also the connection going thru the firewall get corrosion sometimes

Thanks.
The plug on the driver side backwall behind the motor under the hood. there's a single bolt that holds it together. should be under the brake master

Ohh, gotcha,i'll check that...my mechanic said that sometimes something random can cause it, something random like the wiring to something completely unrelated, i think he said the heater wiring or something. I dunno, theres a lot to check, but i'll start with your idea
