Guage cluster
I have a 1995 cherokee sport 4.0l 2wd auto with the idiot lights do I need to pull a new harness to add a guage cluster or would adding aftermarket be more practical. I dont like not knowing water temp and oil pressure. Is it hard replacing the sensors and can I just use the existing ports and terminate the idiot light wires without affecting the computer.

The oil-and-temp-equipped cluster is a plug-in replacement. You'll need to replace the temp sensor (the one way at the back of the block on the driver's side by the firewall) and oil pressure sensor.

I just did this exact replacement on the same vehicle. I went to a pick-n-pull and got a cluster from a 94 for $12 and went to the auto parts store for both new sensors (ask for the ones for gauges and not lights). Oil pressure sender is by the oil filter and temp is drivers side near the fire wall.
The cluster was a direct plug an play and works like a champ. Geo |
Cool thanks guys I changed the water temp last year on a road trip when it overheated and didnt get a light.put in a new part as it warmed up the light started glowing but the engine was not overheating and the part store gave me the sensor not the switch. I will go to the bone yard and look some more but either they have idiot lights or with the tach and the connector is different for the cluster I guess I just haven`t found the right one yet I will keep looking tho.
