Default Grinding Sound....

After startup about 5 seconds i get this grinding sound. Its not really loud but it just enough to notice. Normal driving it sounds fine, just a idle. I heard it could be my trans case. Something with the 4wh not disengaging completely, but I pressed on the 4wh lever and moved it around a little, like i was told, and the sound didn't change. What else could it be? I'll see if I can get a sound clip.

Are you sure it is a grinding sound? What you are decribing sounds more like something rattling to me. like something in the exhaust system or something else that is loose.

I'm not 100% sure. The sound is very rapid. Like a clutch going out on a manual. I had a piece of metal loose in my muffler and it sounded different.

could be the cylinoid not completely disengaging in the starter. The grinding is the gears still catching on the starting when they're not retracting all the way like they're suppose to. Or if its a rattle then it would most likely be exhaust or a loose bracket around the motor.
