I have a 94 Cherokee sport and i just recently did my ring and pinion on the front diff. i kept it original with the stock Dana 30. anyways we did the pinion depth and backlash all right... but i went to try 4 wheel drive tonight and i shifted it in to Hi4 it made a load grinding noise but went in. and seem to have worked. i shifted it in to neutral and the grinding noise came back.. just seeing if it did it i popped it into 4 low and it made the same noise and jumped back into neutral. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. if so does it have to do with the front axle i just rebuild or does this mean my T-case is going bad?

 

You should look at the transfer case. The front axle will make noise all the time if there is a problem.
