Hey guys I'm new to the site but love the wealth of knowledge. I just purchased a 99 classic, it has a slight grinding sound coming from the drivers side rear wheel. The previous owner told me it has to do with the emergency brake needing an adjustment. I am not mechanically inclined but plan on learning and doing all work on my new project. I am a bit skeptical of his e brake theory but am looking for advice. Is this a legite theory? Could it be the rear drum brake that needs adjustment? Is it much more severe and expensive than a brake problem? The vehicle is clean and runs strong and I got it for a good price so I didn't let this problem stop me from purchasing the vehicle but now that I have it I need to know where to start! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Drive it and lightly apply the handbrake and see if the noise changes. Jack the rear and spin the tires and then pull the drum off which ever side you determine the noise is coming from and see what you get.
From what you wrote I am gonna guess you may not know how to pull off the drum. If you have questions just ask.

Ahh you can tell I have no idea what I'm talking about huh? Lol I've done front disk brakes before but know nothing about drums. I will dig in and see what I find! Thanks for the post..I'm sure I'll need plenty more answers soon!
