Wasn't sure how I wanted to word the title to make sense..
Okay so I changed out my starter (was getting to the point of hammer banging to get the XJ fired up) along with new cables etc.
Seems like everytime I pull wire loom off I end up finding some kind of jacked up wiring nightmare from one the PO's. This time is no different and makes me cringe when working on the XJ.
When I removed the loom from the alternator to get to the green starter feed wire I seen where the insulation was skinned back and the "blue" wire from the alternator was wrapped around it. Not taped, just wrapped around and hidden in the loom. It was wrapped so much that I had to cut the piece out and slolder the wire back and heat shrink it.
My question is, where is the blue wire supposed to go? I left it alone for now and the XJ starts fine but, I would like to get this resolved if all possible. Thanks..

Chrysler used Green, 10 Ga. Fusible Link wire. Aftermarket Fusible Link 10 Ga. usually comes in Orange. Blue may be too large for the XJ.
Go here and read about Fusible Links.

I've see Fusible Link wire on Ebay.
Edit: The Fusible link is in the wire from the alternator to the PDC and in the last several inches from the PDC bus bar.

CCKen, not sure if I am understanding you. Not questioning you, just not understnading. The green solenoid wire going to the starter was skinned back and the blue wire coming from the alternator was connected to it by means of the blue wire skinned back and wrapped around the solenoid wire.
There is the main wire from the alternator going to the PDC which is fine. I didn't change that. But, there is like 5 wires coming from the bottom of the alternator wich has the blue wire that was slpiced into the green solenoid wire. I have no idea where the blue wire was originally from the factory so to speak.

There shouldn't be a Blue wire from the alternator to the starter solenoid. The solenoid wire is Light Green with a Black tracer. It goes from the starter relay in the PDC to the starter solenoid, via connector C108 (against the right inner fender and below the PDC). The solenoid wire starts out as a Brown wire from the starter relay to connector C108, then turns to a Light Green/Black wire from C108 to the solenoid.

I have no idea where a Blue wire would come from, or its purpose, that goes from the alternator to the starter solenoid. The alternator is not in the starter circuit at all.

I just had a brain fart!! I have a parts XJ in the yard and will look at the wiring when I get home. Maybe it will shed some light on this crazy PO wiring hack job..
