Default Got Gas?

What grade of gas is everyone running in their 4.0? I figure most everyone is using 87 octane but I was wondering if anyone has experimented with higher octane fuels. If you have, did you notice any difference in mileage or performance?

The manual says long term use of a higher grade fuel is damaging to the engine.

If your jeep will run on 87, let 'er have it. Save your money for repairs.

they have some really small oil passages that have tiny screens in them, also the timing chain oilers are easily clogged. all you can do is change the oil on time every time. 3,000 miles is your best insurance.

I run 87 octane in my '89 XJ most the time. Every once in a while I'll put 91 octane in it. Seems to keep it running better..

stock motors always run the manufactures recommended fuel that how it was set up and that what it will run best on

here in California we have no fuel that compares to what the older cars were designed to run on to many additives
and I think thats why my 91 gets bad mileage

We have 85 here in town and i dont notice any difference in performance. I have ran them all threw my jeep and its just as happy with 85 as it is with a higher octane.

87 in the 4.0ls

I was mixing 87 and E85 in a 50/50 mix in my 5.2l. But when the price inverted I stopped doing it.

X3 with everyone else on the 87. Never had any problems with it. Ive ran 89 and 91 in my old dodge truck and it made it too rich if you put more than ten gallons in the tank. 87 is the way to go
