Good Shocks Cheap

What shocks do you guys recomend for someone on a budget? They will be for primarily a DD but it is also my hunting vehicle. I plan on a 2-3" lift with 31" General AT2s but haven't found much info on shocks. I can't bring myself to pay 300-400 for a set of shocks(Bilstein, OME) but I want something that handle decent around the turns and not ride "too" rough. List what shocks you have ran and what you thought of them. Thanks.

I am pretty passive when it comes to handling,if it does not ride like a boat then I am happy, and I do not do alot of serious 4wheeling if any. $300-$400 for me is alot of money also. I think you would be fine with RC,RE,doetsch tech, superlift, procomp, rancho 5000s,there is alot of shocks for half the price you mentioned, these ar all around $25 to $50 each, and I think you would be hard to tell the difference with the high end shocks for what you use them for. Thats my 2 bits.

Just remember that good and cheap don't go together. Its either cheap or good.Which would you prefer?Personally i would save up and get good ones,do it right the first time.

jk shocks

I've been reading around about putting jk shocks on an xj but everything I have found talks about shocks from a rubicon. Do they have to be from a rubicon jk?

i have ran trailmaster shocks and liked them. bought them from autozone for about $60.

runnin monroe sensetracks on mine in the rear they were around 40 a peice and picked up some original upcountry grand cherokees stockers in the front from the jy for 5$. Nabbed them when i got the springs for my budget lift. Rides good so far. Not sure on the mileage the grand cherokee had though.

i have air shocks in the rear, brand new shipped from Amazon for 58 bucks. they're awesome!

i'll be changing the fronts out, but i agree with you. 40 bucks will do what i want it to do, which is the same that 400 bucks would do for me.

How much did they run you?

not sure on jeep's, but the superduty forum only recommend bilstiens, and thats it, no other brand so they must do a good job. they ran about $60 a piece, and maybe cheaper for xj's. the cheapest i found was at shockwarehouse.com

On my jeep I am running skyjackers, on my silverado I run rough country, on my old ford i had pro comp and my last s10 i had skyjackers also. They all seem to perform exactly the same. I would say just go with some pro comp shocks because they work really well and are cheap. Go on 4wheelparts.com and you can get them for like $30 each. Usually they have deals like buy 3 get 1 free, check them out.
Good Luck!

it was approx $35 a shock... I also just put in new heavy duty leafs in back(crowns from JC Whitney) that lifted my 2 dr 2" inches... the sensatracs have worked well with the added height..
