Default this a good jeep? (for a friend)

well i'm wondering what you guys think of this jeep? my friend sent me an email asking what i thought. i personally think the price is high ($6500).... i mean it looks in good condition. the other thing to think about is that the jeep is in ohio and we live in pennsylvania. ohio i believe has no inspection and here in PA we have a strict inspection. maybe you guys could chime in and let me know what you think of the price and everything else. oh it says it has a rubicon lift but the shocks look like a different brand???

heres the link:

so my friend has a 07' grand prix gt..... i got a jeep and had to get a exhaust gasket replaced and need my oil pan replaced he's been getting on my case about how much it sucks. then one day he tells me he needs to put 2k into his car for misc. things...... my response - i love my jeep. a few days later he's looking for jeeps and now wants to buy one.

thanks guys.

he's been driving a manual for about 10 yrs now so i'm sure he'll do just fine with that.
opinions on price or maybe even the fact that its in ohio with no inspection then having to get one in PA???

The price is very slightly high. I looked for months before buying my '99 with similar mods, 5spd & mileage as that one for $5900.

As far as inspection goes get AAA to do one, maybe the current owner will pay if he's confident:

That should give peace of mind before having to do the state inspection.

looks clean and well cared for. $6500 is steep though. id show up with 5500 cash and see if he'll part with it...has a nice lift though. it is a RE 3.5" kit, can tell by the disco's, but the shocks are BDS...id check it and make sure it had the axles and everything i wanted and worked right then probably go for it, manuals that havent been beat to hell are few and far between, at least in my region...

Looks good, almost TOO clean. $6500 is high for a 99 XJ, offer $5000-$5500 cash.

99 is a good year, BTW. Check a few threads on this site.

00-01 have low pinion front diff & cracking 0331 heads FYI.

Although it looks to be in real good shape. $6500 for an eleven year old vehicle is way too much imo. Typically if they're in good shape it would be closer to $4000-4500.

Unless it's been parked in a garage every winter.......that's eleven winters in the rust belt. No matter how well you take care of them, there's no way that road salt wouldn't take a toll. Since it's had 10,000 miles per year put on it, I would think it's seen some winters.

Then again........it's been said that things are worth whatever someone will pay for them.

looks like it was built as a street queen with a purpose. it is very clean and looks well cared for. he has pride in it, that's for sure.

i'd say, since they're getting harder to find in this condition, colour and 5spd transmission, it's gonna sell no matter what.

so, if your buddy wants it bad enough, he'd better get on it before someone else shows up with more cash.

offer him 5k, then go up to 5500. i'm sure it will pass inspections.

x2 look at the axles to be sure it has an 8.25, that would just be bonus. but if not, it's not hard to find a decent d44 to install.

Based on the pics on CL, it has an 8.25, So good to go there.
