Default Good Deal

Found this on craigs list and i am looking to get a vechile soon. What do you guys think? Is there any known problems with 1989's? The guy said the rebuilt motor and trans have about 40K on them and the truck it's self has about 203k.

well first off whoever wrote that add needs some more schooling but ya about the jeep...its not a bad deal. i normally stay away from rebuilds unless its a tuner car thats been bored out or something but for the most part my previous 89 cherokee 2 door was awesome and i wish i hadnt sold it! but hes prolly not going to know unless he did it, but why was it rebuilt? obviously its old and has a ton of miles on it but that doesnt mean total rebuild.

I've got mine, 89' cherokee 4x4 laredo.. only thing to watch for it with the tranny.. the 4.0 is AWESOME you have to neglect it bad for it to go, but mines in the shop for the front seal of all things on the tranny.. ugh haha common rear will SURELY fail me..

ok my rant is over, but all in all ive got it with 177k mi. and it runs like a dream still, ALOT of power.

I purchased it for 850 knowing i had 400 dollars worth of work, blue is around 1600 so its still a good deal.

Also, depending on climate.. check for rust, and electrical problems.

Hey air, why do you stay away from rebult trannys? just out of curiosity.. the kits include just about all the parts.. i understand the engine part... but it needs to be reman'd anyway

It looks like a great Jeep. I would offer $1000 and go up if needed. Cash talks. It appears to be clean. The mileage on the Engine is a selling factor on his part. Make sure he shows you receipts.
Look under it for rusty floors and rockers. I disagree with Jsny about the AW4 auto tranny they are nearly bulletproof. Mine has almost a quarter million miles and no problems.
Another good thing is it is a Renix era Jeep and easy to work on if you have any skills at all.

Have a look at other states besides GA so you get an idea of what you can find that is out there.

I just bought this for $450

I also bought the twin to this one last week and this is fair but I'd pay 1k
http://newhaven.craigslist.org/cto/819637991.html

I used to live in GA and forgot about the rust free trucks.
Atlanta Truck is my buddies place and has some sweet parts.

$750 and nice

Offer $400 http://atlanta.craigslist.org/cto/868854678.html this has listed this thing every day for over a month and you can tell he's hurting to sell.
Go LOW BALL him with cash.

Good luck and don't jump on the first one you see but don't wait to long because if it's a good deal others will jump at it also.
