Good Buy? 1995 Cherokee Country -$1500?
Sorry this is long but this is my first experience ever with jeeps and need help, please read and offer advice.
I recetly decided to pick up something with 4wd for the winter time. I've always liked the look of Cherokees so that is what im shopping around for. I found this Jeep online and the seller was asking 1850, it is a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Country, green and tan with tan leather and 168,000 miles. I went and checked it out and drove it. Here are my impressions, no knocking from the engine, trans shifted as i assume it is supposed to, acceleration was good, brakes were firm, power windows and door locks work, tan leather in good condition, raidio did not seem to get reception for some reason.
Outside, few scratches here and there, tires about 50% tread left, had black brushguard on the front with minor rust spots (i figure i could sand it down and repaint it if i wanted). NOW for the 2 bad spots on the outside, front right corner of bumper was dented in, not terrible but it was cracked and if i could find an alternative bumper cheap enough that would be nice. The second problem was that on the roof of the jeep at all 4 corners it was rusting, is this common, will it get really bad?
After reading all of this is 1500 a fair price down from 1850?

Sounds like a good deal. I would show a lil concern for the rust. I would crawl underneath the jeep with screw driver and poke around see if you go through the bottom floor any. You will need to do something about the rust cause it will spread and get worse.
168k on the clock is nothing for a 4.0 you are still breaking her in lol.
If you could post up some pics of the jeep so we can get a better feel of what you are working with.

Hell, these things run forever, esp. that inline 6. My buddy used to have a 1990 2-door with well over half a million miles on it, and we used it to tow a stock car. It finally died when he got a hole in the oil pan and never bothered to get it fixed. My '92 has some rust holes on the outside, mainly rear quarters and the rockers, and some odd-and-ends spots around it. Sounds like a good deal to me, I'd just be sure to check, feel and sniff all the fluids everywhere and make sure the transfer shifts into its ranges decent. Other than that, don't let the secret get out about how good of a buy these things are, I'm (and I'm sure there are others here) who are trying to hoard these things for ourselves!!! Don't want the price to start getting expensive!!!

Check under the jeep at the driver and passanger floorboards. Stryker, mine, and every other jeep i see with rust problems has it there bad if its rusty. It can be fixed, but needs to be addressed like he said.

thats the only picture i have of it.
I forgot to mention, the guy selling it is the original owner.
I kinda hate the rims on it but for what im using it for oh well. How cheap could i pick up some different rims and maybe like 30" tires for it?

You can pick up a full set of cragar soft 8's for around 200$ and tires, just depends on what you want. Tirerack seems to have some of the best deals, or if you have a Costco near you, they have deals as well. I would say you could probably get a decent-nice set of wheels tires for about 600$
Does anyone on this forum have a jeep that looks like this one, like the same color and year so i can see some pictures of it?
are the 95's smaller than like the 97's, it just looks kinda small to me and the drivers seat was a little tight for me an im only 5'11" 225lbs.

no they are all the same size except for the 2 door style ones. You should fit pretty comfortable in there. But if you don't I have heard of people moving seat back and remounting it. May help ya if you arn't comfy in it.
I got the fix on your radio reception issues.
Pull the passenger side kick plate and you'll find a quick-disconnect for the antenna. It will look like a tulip, because they corrode, weaken, and then split longitudinally.
Play with it until you get good reception and then tape it back together with some electrical tape.

Turns out that the floor board was rusted pretty bad. Rusted all the way through and i could see the carpet in one spot about as large as both of my fists. The rest of it was pretty weak feeling to. So the search continues for me.
