Model: Cherokee
Engine: 4.0
GM HEI ignition on 4.0
I found an article on 4X4wire.com that a guy swaped a GM HEI (76-82) ignition into a jeep 258 engine. I have never owned a jeep or GM product before and the article wasn't real clear to me. But i found of course the 258 is a 4.2. (didnt say what year)
My question is will this work in an 88 4.0?
It would put all of the ignition parts in one place and make it an easy and small job to swap out on the trail in case of system failure.
Has anybody done this swap? If the swap can be made, is it a good idea or bad choice?
