Default Glowing Catalytic

Hi, I haven't posted in quite some time, but I've got an update for you guys. Thursday last week I was driving home and someone flashed their lights at me, they said that the end of my Catalytic Converter was glowing red around the end of it (since I have it cut). I've heard that in some situations raw fuel can leak into the catalytic due to a bad ignition coil or bad sparkplugs (which will lead to a cylinder misfire). Another one I've heard of is a valve gasket oil leak, but I've also been having throttle issues like hesitation when accelerating. I've even had the car shaking while sitting at a stop light, this could be a MAF or Oxygen sensor (at least that's what I've heard). If I don't get an idea I'm sure I could run to the store in town, Advanced Auto or Autozone. They could use an OBD-II to give me an idea, and the small fee might actually be worth it. I will keep you guys updated!

Unless there is a check engine light reading the codes wont tell you anything. sounds like you need a new cat on that thing.

Since you live in OH, just cut it off and put a straight pipe in. I don't have cats on any of my vehicles.

Doesn't have to be raw fuel. Just running rich.

Components that can cause a rich mixture could include: coil, distributor cap/rotor, plugs, oxygen sensor, map sensor.

Even if there are no codes, and no check engine light on, an obd2 scanner can help show what the computer is doing with fuel trims. Which can help lead to a correct diagnosis.
