getting new D30 axle saturday

What should I look for as in somthing rong with it I no pinion gear leaks what else

I would pull the cover and look at the gears, make sure they aren't missing teeth and such. I would check ball joints (unless you plan on replacing them) and all control arm mounts. Other than the differential internals, the outside stuff should be easy to look over.
