Hi all,

I just bought my first Cherokee yesterday. A few hours after it was mine it started to do the following:

I turn on the ignition. It buzzes and the GEN and Check Engine lamps go on (and ABS also). After a few seconds, lamps go off and I can start the Jeep.

What could this mean and what should I do?

first off.
rip that buzzer out.
second.. no clue, mine does the same thing tho.
my lamps flash sometimes.

My headlights went off too (for half a second or so last night driving downhill), so we may have similar problems. It just got worse though: Won't even start anymore now. When I turn the key to start, the ABS and brake lights go on instead. What sort of electical error is that?

um, you probably have a bad relay, pull your abs relay under the hood.
idk why it wouldnt start like that..

or a bad alternator.
check the batt. alternator. and all the relays

voltage voltage voltage, check it at the battery and then check it again while trying to crank it over.
