Gears?

Gears?
Lets start off with the issue. I have two mix matched gear ratios. I plan on a 4.5 lift and 33. What is a good gear that actually matched the d30 front and a Chrysler 8.25 rear. I would like 4.10 but all I find for the c8.25 is 4.11 can anyone help

The 3.73s' should do you just fine if you want to keep you fuel mileage up, with 33in tires would drop to close to stock ratio of 3.54. The 4.11s' would drop to around 3.80ish (I think). One of the threads around here has a chart. 4.11s' and 4.10s' are not the same and I would not mix them, unless you like four wheeling in mud. Mixing gears is just not a good idea.

and yes you can run a 4.10 and a 4.11 gear ratio together. I had a 3.55 front D30 and a 3.54 LSD D44 in the rear of a previous XJ. No issues, it was even my dd. A .01 difference in gear ratio is not that big of a deal.

there is a ratio percentage that is claimed to be "safe" I am not sure what it is off the top of my head but I do know of some toyota guys running a dana 44 wagoneer axle with 538s in the front and a toyota 8 rear end with 529 gears and not having any problems. different truck same concept...

As far as your Jeep is concerned, 4.11:1 and 4.10:1 are the same ratio. Remember, stuff blows up if you use 4H on pavement anyway
Good news is your D30 already has the larger carrier. Better news is that 4.10:1 was stock in stick shift XJs with the 2.5L gasser. You might get lucky and find someone with those ratios looking at regearing that might just swap you axles! Or you may find the axles for cheaper than the cost of doing the regear

Will be fun offroad. If you have 3.07s right now you'll want to run 31s or 32s with 3.55. Stock is 225/75R15, I don't see why you'd regear for 235s

I went from 3.55 to 4.10 with 34" tires and my mileage went up on the highway. engine is happiest at 2500rpm cruise speed

Well ****. Find an axle with 3.55:1 in it already then, 99% of automatics (like 90% of all XJs) have them. 29-spline C8.25 with 3.55:1 are reasonably easy to find and a lot cheaper than regearing.
