Gear oil change
I have to do a gear oil change on my rear diff, and i was wondering what to do. I bought a gasket for the diff cover. should i use the gasket alone? or use some rtv with it? or rtv alone? I have heard of people having gaskets leak even when they are brand new... just curious to see what some of you on here would recommend.

All you need is RTV. Pop the cover off and remove as much of the old as possible..I have found a turkey baster good for removing the old stuff that can't drain. Then clean the gasket surfaces and then use the RTV and let it set for about 30 mins before filling to allow the RTV to properly set. Then fill and you should be golden.
