gear oil?
anyone know the stock weight for gear oil in a dana 30 and a 35?
70-140? 80w90?
i spoke to a chrysler tec who told me 80w90 ?
any tips?

d30 is 80-90,rear is 80-90 unless towing alot then it would be 75-140, that is per the manual,but 80-90 is normal. you also need to make sure yours is not a limited slip that needs any special additive. If it did it should say on the cover with a little tag.

how would i find if its a limited slip ,other than jacking it up and turning one of the tires and seeing if they both move? lol and if so what kind of addative would i put? does it have anything to do with GL5?

You can write down the numbers from the axle tubes and find it online.

well i pulled a tag off each axle and the only thing i could get out of it was my gear ratio which is 3:55 i have a dana 30 front and a 35 in the rear. where would i find another serial number?

Take it out somwhere safe and put in low,power brake it,if does not turn both tires it is open.

If they turn OPPOSITE each other, it is single track/open diff.

That doesn't work with Dana axles in Cherokees...
They were delivered to Jeep as D-35C.. C meaning custom.. Or in Dana-speak unfinished. Jeep finished them off and put them in. So Dana BOM number will not give you whether it had a Trac-Loc in it.
