Default gauges not working other than the tach

Ok so I took all the gauges out off the cluster and they all worked but I took them out to paint all the blue plastic with the dupli color chrome paint to make the led's shine better which that working but after putting them all back in when I plugged it in and turned my xj on the led's work and so does the tach not sure about Speedo cause I have put the new cable in but I'm sure it would work since it runs of a cable but my oil, volts, water temp, gas don't work what could have went wrong by removing the gauges
