Default Gauge Oil and Temp Sending Units 1996

1996 XJ 4.0 4WD

Anybody have part numbers for oil and temp sending units for gauges, not lights?

Thanks!

Thanks. Got the equivalents at AutoZone. Oil pressure gauge works great now, but the temp gauge starts climbing moments after starting and seems to settle in the middle of the red zone. Fluctuates a little as I drive, and I know I'm not running hot. I'm hoping it's a defective sending unit.

Go with Mopar on the Temp Sensor. All those aftermarket temp sensors are crap and will read high. Ask me how I know. Also, watch the aftermarket oil sender, because eventually it will start leaking. Again, ask me how I know.

Look for loose wires at the CTS connector, or corrosion in the pin cavities of the connector.

High resistance in the CTS circuit will drive the indication high.

Interesting. When I removed the connector the plastic part of the sensor disintegrated, leaving peices of the sensor in the connector. Good chance of corrosion. I'll check it out.

Thanks

The aftermarket temp sensor in my '96 reads really high. It's pretty normal and it sucks.

Could be a definite connection issue, but as soon as I swapped to a Mopar sensor the temp gauge read more normal for an XJ.
