Gas gauge problems

I just bought my first car, a 1993 Cherokee 3 days ago. My gas gauge is reading a 1/4 tank less the what it is. The guy who previously owned it changed the fuel pump and I think that's why. Help me out please, I'm very new to jeeps. Thanks :)

The gauge gets its reading from a piece on the fuel pump module. If your gauge is off, there is something going on with the pump. Do you know what brand of fuel pump it is? If it is Airtex, you are gunna wanna change it to a Bosch or Carter brand before your Airtex leaves you stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Not sure what brand it is. Isn't there a way to calibrate it to read correctly?

theres a float on a arm he most likely bent the arm by accident causing gauge issues

I've got a friend who has a whole jeep crew and is a mechanic. They do free diagnostics so he might know why its reading wrong.
