IIRC the only thing they would be good for is the flat top knuckles, for the 5x5.5 bolt pattern. The only down side to the scout flat tops is that you can only use other scout parts with the outers.
OH and unless you are going to passenger side drop.... it is worthless to you, but for the aforementioned info.

NO it wasnt made of aluminum. At least not that I know of. Early ones had a funky kinda king pin and closed knuckles. I used to have a 70 Scout 800. Man was it a rust bucket. I just wish I stil had the frame, It would made a great base to be a crawler.

Scout axles are 58" wms to wms and lp passenger drop front. There is a lot of extra material on the passenger side tube area where it's set up for spring under. I've put them in CJs but you'd need to swap the t-case in a cherokee and use wheel spacers/adapters to get back the few inches of width and swap the bolt pattern. They are a true 44 unlike some jeep axles (TJ) and have thicker tubes than most.

For 100 bucks you could get it, regear, and put some adapters on it and run 36s without worries. There will be a little bit of fab, cutting off spring perches shock mounts and welding on new ones but that goes for any axle swap that isn't stock.

You would need to gear it the same as the front. You will need spring perches and shock mounts, the shock mounts can be cut off the old axle but buy new spring perches as well as u-bolts. Depending on what yoke it has you may need to change that as well, a Dana 30 yoke will work on a 44 and can be had with the stock size 1310. You can get wheel adapters that will space the wheels out anywhere from an inch to three inches but you'll want the 1.5" to be the same width as your stock axle. Depending on the ammount of lift you may have to shorten your drive shaft or find one from an XJ with an 8.25 or just install a SYE with a CV shaft. The stock shafts are 30 spline and plenty stong enough in stock form for 36s or bigger if you don't have a heavy foot. Happy fabbing.
