I searched and couldnt find anything on this shock here on this forum. surely someone has some experience with this one.....maybe....? I bought the monroe 37083 from amazon and was having my mechanic install. well, i didnt check the shocks before i dropped the jeep off and aparently the item in the box is not 37083. Before you start bashing the mechanic, i know, sounds fishy. I intend to take a look myself and confirm. anyway I can get these Gabriels today for the same money as the monroe. Just want to know if anyone has experience with these Gabriels. obviously the monroes are well reviewed on here and other places and that why those were my first choice. Jeep is getting upcountry suspension. crown leafs, rear air shocks for trailering a camper. Moog cc782 coils with .75" spacers and new front shocks. I want to maintain a decent ride on the road as this is my daily. i dont wheel but i do take it off road at times. anyway thats the application, just curious your thoughts on this shock for this app. Thanks.

All I can tell you is that Rock Auto lists that Gabriel shock as a heavy duty replacement where as that Monroe is listed as an OEM replacement. Chances are the Gabriel will give a stiffer ride.

I saw that too. Looks like the piston has a slightly larger diameter and a shorter stroke than the monroe. based on what RA lists, i would expect you are correct.

Maybe select an OEM shock from RA's list and see if you can get it local.
