fuse problem jeep stuck up mountain
So I was wheeling and eventually turned the jeep off, no biggy until it wouldn't start up again... all my electronics work but when I turned the key the starter wouldn't crank.. so we open the fuse box and sure enough one has gone bad so I replace it with another less important one from the box, it burns right away, so I ask a friend for a bobbypin, when I use that it burns up to... then I straightened out my key ring, it burnt that to.....
Its a 91 Laredo with an aw4 and I need it today... if anyone has any ideas of what it could be that would be greatly appreciated thx, as for now I'm going to go buy more fuses and ph some friends to see if anyone can get me back to the jeep

Which fuse popped? If it keeps blowing a certain fuse then you need to check the wiring for that circuit and find the short. Just putting random crap in the fuse location isn't gonna fix it. If you melting a key ring then I would think you have a dead short in the starter, it's harness, battery cable, or something on that order. Start at the starter and check it's cables. If you were wheeling something may have broke or gotten damaged.

First thing you need to do is to stop cramming anything and everything where the fuse goes? All you are going to accomplish if frying the electrical system. When a fuse keeps blowing it's telling you that you have a short. Like the others said you need to find the short and fix it before you you start putting more fuses in there.

OK been up mountain all day, when we found the blown fuse we jumped to conclusions that that was the problem, it was only the rear windshield defroster ... but that wasted a lot of time... looking more the starter hardly clicked and further inspection there was a nice clean scrape on the bottom of it, we considered that the magnet had been smashed from the impact and went to town for a new one, new one is in and won't start ,won't turn , won't click....
Well **** I'm out of ideas, oh and the short is fixed..... and when the key turns everything else works fine just won't start

Also we went over all the starter and bat cables and rechecked all fuses with a multi meter , and everything checked out good

Short the two large terminals on the starter and see if it kicks over. That puts battery voltage right to the starter and bypasses everything else- nss, starter solenoid, starter relay..

Ya bat is good I have 12V , ya at the end of the day the nss was what me and my Buddie were talking about, its given me problems before but all its ever needed was to shake the shifter ounce... in the morning I will reseach more on the nss, also the jeep is off the mountain but still about 25-30 kilometres from town and my friends house were I'm staying and I can't find a ride out..

I ran out of time, I couldn't start it before my ride home left,,
With the nss I couldn't get the retaining nut off it just spun on me and the lock washer practically crumbled away... I tryed manually adjusting the nss moving it both clockwise and counter clockwise (the write up i found said only colckwise but it seemed worth a try to do both),and I also tryed bypassing it... my plan had been to rebuild it but like I said I couldn't get the dam thing off and I ran out if time..

It wasn't the write up I had used but is similar,, the tabs that u fold down in that article litteraly crumbled away and the nut kept springing, I did try prying at it at this state but i couldn't move it... also this article would be saying that how I bypassed the nss was incorrect,, the thread I used simply gives a wrong picture of which wires to connect
