Funny braking sound

So since I can remember replacing my pads rotors calipers on the front end. I hear an unusual sound when, say medium braking. It's like if you moisten your lips and make a light popping sound when you draw them apart. Is this the sound of my impending doom?

Did you lubricate the caliper mounting bolts and bushings with high temp brake grease.

How did the mounting ledges on the steering knuckles look - worn? Did you grease the mounting ledges?

No, I facepalmed this page a couple days ago in the Haynes I own now(not the year and a half ago the change occurred). I was just beginning trying to do things myself and just brought my parts to a coworkers house and got some (help). Started as pads->****->rotors->calipers. From a combination of my inexperience and the (help). Is it over for that situation and more is wrong likely wrong or the grease will cleanse my sins?
