Fuel Tank Compatibility

I need to get a new fuel tank for my 1991 XJ. The one in there has a big dent in it where the PO back into something low. What years are compatible if I want to pull one from a junk yard? I tried searching but came up with nothing. Too many threads about skid plates.

So I'm guessing no one knows what years fuel tanks are interchangeable?

I've got a 91 and a 98. 91 tank is steel and 98 is plastic. The 91 has the hoses going in to it in front of the diff. the 98 seem to come from the drivers side.
Try contacting your bone yard. they have an interchange program on thier computers that will tell you that info.
I used to buy those when I ran a shop back in the 80's but they are way too expensive to own just for the hell of it.

Anyone have input about 80s tanks fitting in early 90s? The bone yards here seem to habe plenty of 80s xjs but nothing newer. I even have an 89 at home already but would rather not try to.shoehorn it out to find its wrong. ( has a homebrew reciever that wont come off)

An easy way to check compatibility is ebay.. they will usually list the year ranges for a certain part..

I have a 94 tank, pump and skid here in Philly if you wanna do a ride.

Since he started the thread about two years ago, I hope he has solved his issue.
