the older model cherokee 87-90 had a better gas gauge and when the pin got down to the E then it was actually empty, but the newer ones seem to be deceiving as when you get close or down to the E u seam to have 2-3 gallons left of fuel. but i have gotten as much as 300 miles per tank out of my jeep lifted on 35's and 4.56's

well im broke most of the time and i ride around town with my gas light on. i have a 2000 and when your int he jeep before you turn the key the gueage sits below the e line. well when i started the jeep the needle didnt move. when i got the money to fill it up. i filled it up from that point and i could only put in 18 gallons.

in my country its very cheap 1 liter for .50 means 1 dollar filled ur tank with 7 liters
i filled my xj 20 gallon for 10 dollar
i filled my xj 20 gallon for 10 dollar

well in America it's seems we get ripped off by our own government and the suppliers Edit: sorry I know
and OP it's a 20 gal tank and usually when you try to fill as much as possible, there's alway a lil bit left in the tank and there's also the air pocket at the top. They do make aftermarket 32gal tanks, this or 28 forgot which exactly. Will kill clearance though
