Fuel system cleaner
I've heard people on this forum say that you should use fuel system cleaner every other or every two petro fill ups. I've never used a fuel system cleaner before is this something I should be using on a regular basis?

Rather than type it all out...

I've used it in my fuel tank as well as down my throttle body with positive results.
FWIW, before I go on a long trip I usually add one bottle of Fuel Injector Cleaner from STP, the kind with jet fuel. It acts as an octane booster and improves gas mileage in the event that you're burning through an entire tank in one haul. For example, on a trip to NY from WV, with the STP I made it clear into New Jersey on one tank of gas, with nearly 1/8 left at fill-up. On the next trip, without STP, I had to stop in PA, about 40 miles South of Jersey and I was nearly on empty.

I use Lucas Fuel System Treatment every fill up, sometimes every other, and Gumout fuel sys/fuel inj./carb cleaner (whatever is handiest). I used to LOVE the GUNK Carb & Fuel Inj. cleaner, but as my hi-tack red gasket adhesive, this too also seems to be gone from the shelves...

Ive used Toulene for a number of years in a number of different applications. It'll boost octane and clean everything!
I'll usually run about 1gallon to a full tank of gas.

big fan of the Seafoam. For fuel treatment I add a bit with every other fill up. My CJ7 that sits alot starts up MUCH easier when I keep some Seafoam mixed in with the fuel.
See the label for other uses wich are great as well.
I Also like the Lucas fuel treatment, and the STP that comes in the black bottle mentioned already.

By law, fuel sold in the USA is required to have cleaning additives added to it by the retailer, and there really is no need to purchase additional cleaning products. With that said, I use Techron with every oil change just to change things up.

I use the STP in the silver bottle once a month. Helps to keep fuel from getting gummy and building up in the injectors.

I don't like how the back rocker cover vent plugs into the intake. The intake pulls vacuum straight from the V/C. No PCV valve restriction, ball and spring valve, etc. It's my opinion that crankcase blow-by is what adds up to carbon formation in the intake runner tract. I installed a wrecking yard motor in my XJ that had 190, rounds on it...I couldn't believe how much carbon funk had built up on the valves and the intake ports on the head. In some spots, the build-up was thicker than 1/8th an inch!
If you're running FI cleaner, I guess it's important to select something that cleans more than just the injector head. Who's to say if it really cleans the intake runner/valves or not? Only disassembly/inspection before, then disassembly/inspection after running the cleaner would provide accurate results.
I don't believe in a "mechanic in a bottle"...but my friend got me turned onto this oil additive called "prolong". I don't do any free advertisements for anyone, but I gotta say- this stuff is like a friction modifier, and I can seriously tell a difference. No friction= more power, and man, whatta difference I noticed.

I've never really been a fan of additives, but I have recently used Iso Heet to great results.
I was having some power loss issues due to what I think was water in my lines, added a bottle of Iso Heet, and it's fixed that completely. That's about the extent of my experience with that stuff.
So, to clean "small" amounts of water from your tank, Iso Heet did well... to clean anything else? No se.
