Default fuel smell/hesitation 99 Sport

99 Sport 4.0 4X4 auto... had a code for the TPS recently which I replaced about a month ago, but the problem seems to be getting worse. Drove it on the interstate for the first time yesterday 70-75 MPH since I've had it; 20 miles there, shut it off for about 5 minutes, 20 miles back (we're a dry county). Got back to town and it had a very noticeable gas smell and would cut out real bad anywhere between 35-65% throttle (which it's been doing after the TPS replacement, but is much worse now). I'm leaning toward O2 sensors from what I've read, but these trucks are new to me and I don't know all the tips and tricks to fix stuff on them yet, but I am mechanically talented so fixing is not a big deal. Only thing I can think of is the prolonged exhaust heat going down the interstate in the highest ever recorded temperature in Arkansas must have cooked the O2(s). Anyone agree, or have something else to suggest? I've dug around on here but didn't really find much to help me out. Thanks!!

BTW... love my Jeep!! Always wanted one and couldn't be happier to have it, especially after only paying $750 for it (it was wrecked). My GMC sits lonely in the driveway now . I might even sell it!

... welcome.... well... the fuel smell I can tell you
a is usually indicative of a problem with the evap system. Is it fuel smell in the exhaust or a fuel vapor smell?

No its coming from under the hood; haven't noticed anything from exhaust. I could smell it coming from the vents too when the air was on. Its possible the hit it took knocked a line off of the canister so I'll check it tomorrow and report back. It bent a tie rod and lower control arm and folded an axle bracket so it wouldn't surprise me. Thanks for the help y'all I'll let you know what I find!

99:1 evap system. There is a charcoAL filter under the hood with lines gong to he intake and back to the gas tank. The only other thing is a leak in the fuel system. Make sure you look over the injectors and all the connections carefully.
