Fuel rail and valve stem seal questions
Hi!
1990 Renix Xj. So in a frustrated moment I did what I was afraid of- broke the fuel rail quick connect plastic thing. After ordering a new one- with the wrong size- Im also a bit puzzled. How do you get the plastic piece on to the fuel rail, under the lip on the line so it doesn’t slide off? if anyone know the part number for this little piece of plastic that would be great! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ff4fa48de.jpeg Little plastic quick connect supposed to go here One more question on the topic of very small parts- my valve stem seals look a lot different from the new ones I got with my head gasket kit. Ok to swap? Same same but different? One is black and one is brownish- what goes where? https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...9bf75c81d.jpeg What color goes to the what valve? https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...714ba59b2.jpeg |
the seals with the springs are vastly superior to your stock ones. the color should relate to exh and intake valves..one is a higher temp material...the kit should tell you. The fel-pro seals ..identical to your new ones are all 1 color now. The internet may tell you.... any idea who made them? you need this fuel line/ac line/tranny line release-install kit..

Are they SBI seals? Found this on rockauto:
SBI 1221205 Viton Material, Positive Type, Metal Clad Style Info Exhaust; 5/16 Nominal Stem Diameter; OEM Version; Use W/ Guide ( 140-8494 ); Brown SBI 1221204 Viton Material, Positive Type, Metal Clad Style Info Intake; 5/16 Nominal Stem Diameter; OEM Version; Use W/ Guide ( 140-7847 ); Black I think the fuel rail clip just slides on. https://www.autozone.com/p/crown-aut...502745/1359591 |
Seals are Crown, got this kit
https://www.crownautomotive.net/Uppe...t/4761015.html will try to dig deeper into the colour matching exhaust/intake for these seals, couldn’t find any info on the Crown site regarding the fuel rail connect I think I need to look a bit closer to the construction of these. Neglected to buy the quick connect tool kit, and now- here I am! Shortcuts…. |

https://www.crownautomotive.net/Valv.../53009887.html IIRC you dont need a tool for those connectors. Just squeeze with a pair of pliers. That tool kit is for the later style.
