fuel pump wont stop running
sorry to repost but i figured this was a better place for it..i have a 87 jeep cherokee pioneer.i changed my valve cover today and washed the bottom of the motor and the whole undercarrage and external of the jeep.after i was done i went back to the building,when i came back my fuel pump was running but the jeep was off and key was out of the ignition.what is causing the pump to continuously run?right now i have it unplugged at the rear of the jeep

Yes. The relay is supposed to only connect the pump to the battery when the switch connected to it tells it to. Think of it as if it relays the "on" signal. If your A/C relay isn't also busted this should reveal the problem.

tap it with a screw driver or something to free it up

Automatic shut down relay. Like they said change it with A/c or starter relay. Whichever is the same. If it stops running/humming when you swap them thats your problem. These relays are a dime a dozen.

i found them at advance for 11$...im not sure which is the fuel relay on the jeep,mine came from PO with no fuse box under the hood

Or, easier yet, hook the fuel pump back up, start pulling relays til it stops running. Bingo. |
thanks for the help.i went out the next morning and hooked the pump up and it wasnt running and didnt run till i turned the key..problem solved,something must have gotten wet and then dried up
