Fuel pump question?

Fuel pump question?
I have a 87, 2 dr cherokee that the fuel pump just started running for a lot longer (way over a minute)after i shut off the engine and before i start it. Is it a pressure problem, a leak in the return line? when this happens it wont start till the pump stops.

could be a leaky injector or a pinhole in a line somewhere...check the seals around the injectors on the fuel rail. could be the ignition switch as well. not telling the pump to shut off.
