Default Fuel level sender

As part of my rebuilding I am cleaning out the gas tank as the last state inspection sticker on this XJ is from back in 2008, so I suspect the fuel is at least that old. I was unsure how much fuel was in it because the gauge reads empty but I could get small amounts of fuel out if I cycled the pump. So I dropped the tank and found out it is full (of gas) and I began filling up gas cans I have, looks like I need to buy another one. When I took out the fuel pump I found the reason my gas gauge doesn't work... the contact that provides the signal has disintegrated. The pump seems to work fine so I don't want to have to replace that. Does anyone know if the sender can be purchased seperately?

Interestingly enough, the sender has ZJ printed on it... and I noticed the tank has some yellow writing on it- wonder if this tank was replaced with one from a ZJ at some point in it's life?

Any and all help is appreciated.

The fuel pump assembly has the sending unit included in it. As far as I know, you cannot purchase and replace it separately. I could be very wrong though. However, if I were in your position, I'd replace the entire fuel pump anyways since it hasn't run for 3 years. And when you get gas in it the first time, run a can of seafoam through the tank to clean everything up

After tearing down the pump I've come to the conclusion that I should replace the whole thing. It would be nice if they made a rebuild kit, but it doesn't look like that is the case.

I thread jacked someone elses thread and asked this question:
What the best deal anyone has found for a complete fuel pump assembly?

I'm out of money but the list of things I need to make this run keeps getting bigger.

Jeep = Just Empty Every Pocket

I haven't had to replace my fuel pump but I've heard a lot of people having very good results with Bosch. IMO a fuel pump isn't something you want to cheap out on!
