fuel leak around gas tank

noticed a small puddle of fuel right beneath the gas tank. I heard the the seal of fuel pump module on the tank is known to leak. I guess this may be the cause for my XJ's leak.
My question is, is there anyway I can confirm this is the actual leaking spot without dropping the tank (So I won't waste money on fuel pump and labor charge). But if the tank has to be dropped in the shop (I am not so comfortable to do this on my backyard) to check things out, I would rather throw in a new pump. Anything else I should check before bringing my XJ in a shop?

Thanks

first i would try tightening the hose clamps where the hoses go on to the fuel sending unit if that doesnt work it might be the seal around the sending unit just use some brake parts cleaner to clean it all off and see where its leakin from then you will know what to tell the mechanic and yeah if you dont plan on workin on it yourself i would have them put a new pump in just so you dont have to pay again if it goes out but its not really all that hard ive pulled my tank and sending unit twice this month :) only cause i smashed my tank on a rock

Turned out to be the seal of fuel pump module. Using the 50$ off $200 coupon, got one from advance auto for $150. Not so bad.
