Fuel Injectin Question
I'm sure some of you cool dudes could help me. I have a renix era 1990 Jeep Cherokee larado. I was wondering how it is fuel injected. Is it multi port or throttle body? Can anybody tell me how long Jeeps have been fuel injected? And if the types of fuel injection have changed over all the years that the Cherokee was made. Thanks.

You have a couple different types of fuel injection..Our jeeps are what the call MPI which is Multi Port Injection. What you have is a throttle body for air intakewhich is what your air box tube is attached to and it is mounted onto the intake manifold. Then you have a fuel rail attached to the manifold as well which has fuel injectors which is what injects the fuel into the system. EFI is what most modern cars have and it has no throttle body.. That is house I understand fuel injection...The only purpose of the throttle body is air intake nothing more and throttle...

Pretty much right on OKC. The TB also sends a signal to the ECU as to how long each injectors pulse width will be according to several different sensors input to the ECU. TB being one of the more important ones. O2 and IAT are a couple more that send signals to the ECU to determine pulse width.
