Can someone elaborate on this NSS issue
I did not want to open the super old thread, however here is my issue.
I cleaned and adjusted my NSS on my 1998 xj last year and it fixed everything, however this time its all the way bad because it will only start with the conecter cheated by bridging the pins bypassing the NSS.
I saw a post from you talking about that causing shifting issues due to the elctronic tranny.
About 2 days or so after cheating my nss I started having shifting problems off and on, waiting till 4500rpm to shift at times and stuff like that.
Can you elaborate on why that actually happens and do you think thats exactly whats happening to me?
I have a new nss to put in now.
Here is a copy of your post.
Any info from anyone would be great.

Hope you folks understand that the NSS does more than just prevent starting while in gear.
The range selector signal also goes through the NSS. This signal is needed to allow for proper shifting of your electronically shifted tranny.
