Default Fuel float/level

Hi.
After several months of 0 troubles, one came to light and this is the stuff. My rig fuel pump told good bye on Saturday and I just replaced as soon I reached home. At home arrival, the fuel gauge on the dash instrument cluster was indicating the fuel amount in the tank was 1/4 tank. I removed the fuel pump/float assy and replace the pump, but once I installed back the fuel pump, I have fuel running to the engine, but I don't have a correct measurement of the fuel in the tank. I took it off once again and perfom several tests checking the performance of it and once I had it off the fuel tank I moved the float arm and the fuel gauge on the dash marks the amount of fuel according to the position of it but once I install it back, I have no exact reading. Fuel cauge is like it is locked on 1/8 of tank fuel capacity. Does anybody of you had something like that on your rigs?
Any help on this issue will be very appreciated.

Thanks.
