What up?

This saturday, I'm bout to put in the injectors I bought off ebay (Ford, 4hole) So while I'm on the fuel system, I'm going to replace what appears to be the stock fuel filter from 1991 along with the rubber hoses in that area.

So i looked up a replacement filter, stock, and its 13 bucks, but I also looked at performance filters. K&N had some cool ones, steel mesh? Can I even use that? I do like the idea of a clear one. Being able to see when its nasty. But, is it even worth it? Are performance fuel filters a gimmick?

Personally I don't see how a fuel filter can be "performance" on a vehicle with a stock fuel system. it has a regulator which adjusts pressure (the filter does not restrict volume or pressure) the injectors limit volume, and the pump forces more then the engine needs and the left over is dumped into the tank. so i don't see how a filter would effect any part of the operation of the fuel system unless its clogged(both kinds can clog) and blocking flow. I would just get a stock replacement.

A stock oem style fuel filter is all you need for a standard Jeep 4.0 engine. Save your money.
