Need to know if it is aftermarket or stock system. My first guess is it has less to do with the speakers and more to do with the head unit. It could be getting too hot and shorting out. If they are connected to an amp then your amp is getting too hot and shorting out. Probably a cooling fan not working and causing the amp or head unit to short out or shut down in the case of an amp. That would probably be the reason for the question of it being an infinity system.

ive got an aftermarket deck and aftermarket speakers. the only amp i have is hooked up to my subs unless the cherokee comes stock with an amp for the surround speakers..? i know some cars do.

if it had the infinity system before it could be stock with an amp for the speakers. I believe the amps were located under one of the front seats. Check that first, then pull the head unit once the speakers go out and check the wires.

i just put new front seats in and there was something in a bracket under the driver seat. i think thats it more than anything. but i dont think i had the infinity speakers in it before. im not sure though

see if this link helps you at all. The amp is under the reart seat. must not have been very powerfull because there isnt any airflow under that rear seat. If you do not have this amp then it must be the head unit. I could see one speaker being effected by temperature but all four at the same time has to be coming from the unit. If not an amp them pull the unit and carefully check all the speakers. Aftermarket stereos are can be a PITA if not done right. Also, did you install yourself or did the jeep come with the stereo when you purchased it? Let us know what you find so others can look out for the same.

x2 with ken these jeeps if theres anything wrong with electrical the system cuts out.. and the factory infinity amp im sorry to say for those who like it but its crap... make sure all the ground wires are tight and all wire from the headunit to the speakers are secured and theres no wires touching anything.. grounding out..

Yea these things can fail and I imagine there must be some sort of cooling fan installed that will cause the unit to short when it reaches max temp. I am still trying to fiqure why a system would stop playing sound when it heats up though. He did not say the head unit shut off, only the speakers stopped. If the head unit is still on but the speakers go out it has to be either the harness behind the unit or the amp is overheating.
