Default Front Driveshaft rotational play

Noticed the front driveshaft has some rotational play when in park and in 2hi with all 4 wheels on the ground. U joints seem to be okay as theres no lateral play. Can rotate the DS about 1” in each direction. Normal or cause for concern? Rear DS obviously doesn’t move

Mine rotates no more than 1/4". Don't know if an inch should be of concern or not. Does the pinion nut rotate also?

If you see no reason for the 1" slack at the u-joint,on the pinion shaft (nut not moving) or at the slip joint then the slack would be inside the differential. Like I said I don't what would be considered a concern though.

looks like the pinion nut moves with the whole assembly.

I would say you have a lot of play in your ring and pinon , you mite want to open the cover and look at your differential gears .

Yukon has a spider gear kit for it.

Got mine from Summit, pn. YGA-16073.

I had that issue on my 2000, mine was a little "notchy" to.

Spiders, cross shafts, bushings all were worn in it.
Replacing the parts made it better but I can't speak much for how long, I went to a 44.

If the spider gears are worn then it would be a good time to throw a locker in there.
