Default front driveshaft question

I know a lot of guys use front driveshafts when they lift their xj's, and i was going to go this route, due to it being cheaper.
i found a cherokee being parted out, and was going to buy the front driveshaft but the guy wants 75$ for it, this seeems really expensive from what ive heard. about what should i pay for a front driveshaft?

Dang! $75 for a front driveshaft? Tell him he's high. I wouldn't pay more than $20 TOPS for a used pulled DS. I can go to the local junkyard and get one for $19.95.

You need them for the SYE adapter if you have a large lift and have driveline vibrations. Search for Slip Yoke Eliminator and you will see what it is and what the driveshaft is for.

i pay 50 bucks around here. Just make sure its in decent shape, it's worth that price all day long. a new shaft from napa is around 220 bucks and a rebuild kit is about 50 (not including u joints)

if i go to harry's u pull it in hazleton pa, i can get them for around 20. Sometimes I will grab as many as I can get and resell them for around 40

mocXI, What you probably heard was using a front driveshaft in the rear is a good way to save a buck after doing a SYE conversion. Because after spending to 200-300 bucks on the SYE another 200 for a new custom built DS sucks.

yeah, i know about the slip yoke and everything. i plan on getting a SYE for my 231 when i do my 4.5 lift. but i figure if using a front driveshaft works and is cheaper then getting a custom ds i would do that. I was just wondering if 75$ for the ds was too high.

The ONLY way I would give the guy $75 is if he could show me paperwork for the driveshaft having been rebuilt recently and I could tell by looking at it that the CV and U-joints looked new and were tight and it good shape. If it was just a DS out a random junkyard doner XJ, I wouldn't give more than $40 for it. I would probably try like heck to talk them down from that much.
