Default front driveshaft CV centering ball

so i got the angrey sparrows syndrome, know how to fix it. but the write up by stu olsen i read is for a TJ, is the driveshaft on the xj the same thing? as in, part numbers etc.? if not, where's the best place to get a new centering ball kit? figured murrays/autozone/advance wouldnt have the centering ball kit, i know they got the ujoints. thanks

Procedure is the same parts may be different try a NAPA for the parts they will have them in stock

Are you talking about the yoke or the flange? Have a link to the writeup? Then I could look at what you are talking about and maybe point you in the right direction..

Ok found the item..It's called a CV Centering Yoke an napa sells them for a 91 XJ at about $77

i had to rebuild mine but I was able to get the parts from advance auto parts. If your looking to replace the ball, spring and seal this is the kit part number 70081NG.

i bought the ujoints from napa, but didnt do the ball kit im waiting to get my ujoint tool anyways. is the ball hard to remove? ive heard some drilling and/or torching is involved?

Its not super hard. I had to cut mine out with a dremal. I was able to remove the ball first then cut the sleve out.

I broke the centering yoke replacing the u joints. I couldent find one at napa or anywhere except here, it looks like the correct one in the picture but I dont know. Does anyone know if this one is correct or where to get one? When you go to the link scroll down to

revival! LOL this actually helped me. I have the sparrow sound going on and in the middle of reuilding the cardian. found this in the hunt for the part number!

I got mine from Oreilly's

life time warranty. I also replaced both u joints when I replaced the center ball joint. 9.99 each I think. I done it in about 2 hours while drinking some beer. Mine was simple I did not run into any problems. I was able to hammer my old ujoints out without a press.

was there a good method to getting out the ball and its sleeve? I got the new cv ball kit from advanced.. now trying to get the old out!!
