Front Door Speaker Mounting Depth

Hi Folks, I'm in the process of piecing together a sound system for my 01 XJ. I'm apprehensive about the front speaker mounting depth. I can get a great deal on a pair of these:


From what I've read 2-5/16 (and thats just what I've read) is largest depth acceptable.Unfortunately the speakers below look to be 2-3/8. I obviously don't want the window to smack the back of the speaker. The crossovers and specs looks like pretty good for these speakers. Will they work?

Make some baffles out of mdf so you can fit them.

2 5/16 and 2 3/8. Man thats only 1/16 of an inch difference. I would say that isn't enough to make a difference with this mod. For no more than that, if it does hit the glass put flat washers between the speaker and the door itself. That will give you your 1/16 if not more and I don't see where it would be enough to disturb mounting the panel back.

Check your cutout diameter. Its only 5"(127mm) on my 2000 sport so most 6.5 will require some cutting.
