Front differential hose?

Front differential hose?
Hey there everyone,
I'm in the process of replacing my left front wheel hub, for what I believe is a bad bearing (it doesnt go away when swirving and the noice is coming thru the left front floor, so thats why I am questioning it) but I notice there is a hose coming from the front differential, but mine is corroded and there is a one inch piece where half the hose is missing (making a U channel).. what is this hose for?
