Front axle swap question

I have a 1994 parts jeep. Is the gear ratio in the front axle gonna be the same as my '88' ? Both of these are stock and had nothing done to them. I just wanna get rid of the axle in my '88' that has a vacuum actuator because I think its a too vulnerable to problems. The parts jeep is a Auto and my '88' is a stick. if that helps. Thanks in advance

Gear ratio won't necessarily be the same. Should be tags on the covers. If its from an auto its most likely 3.55's but no guarantees. If they aren't the same, you could swap the shafts over and eliminate the disco while retaining the housing. There's a seal you can put in where the actuator is now and it is really quite easy from what I have read. If you search there should be some info here including the part number for the seal as this topic was discussed a week or two ago I think.

Really! That sounds like a better idea. I can make a cover to replace that actuator. Just one thing is there a C-clip holding that inner axel in or will it just pop out?

Here's one thread that covers it from Naxja:

There is a c-clip holding in the inner shaft. There is alot of info on the subject to be had. Almost too much.

Well I did it today I swapped the front axle shaft to a 1 piece even thru new U-joints on both sides I found a seal to go in the axel tube and made a plate to cover that empty spot on the axle tube. The 4X4 work 100% better now no more banging out of 4X4. And I'm confident it's more stronger than before. Thanks for the info Guys your great!
