Default fresh oil change, leaks a plenty!

I changed my oil a couple of days ago now I have a massive oil leak I hope its the oil filter adapter cause I'm not wanting to do a non lifted oil pan removal. I'm thinking adapter cause my starter is wet. I had zero leaks till now kinda frustrated, I went from amsoil to oreilys high mileage oil. My new oil was much thicker than the stuff that came out kinda surprised its leaking. The filter is tight and not double ringed, guess more pressure at bad seals?

You probably killed the filter adapter O rings when you changed the filter. Thats how mine went. One day they did not leak a drop and after an oil change they dumped oil everywhere.

The rings are cheap but it can sometimes be a major PITA to get the big bolt out of the adapter.

I checked my oil just now and I'm like a dash over the full mark maybe the extra oil is making the valve cover leak? Anyone else have a wet starter from a adapter? or valve cover? Ya maybe the changing of the oil filter messed with the adapter? It was really stuck.... good idea.

if its getting all over your starter its most likely your oil filter isnt tight enough, its too tight, or you dubble gasketed. if the gastket on the old oil filter was still stuck to the housing and you put the new filter on, that will definelty cause a leak.

This. Or you somehow caught the gasket on the new filter on the threads and it pulled it all to one side. I did this once in an Exploder....looked like a BP rig in the gulf underneath.
