So my next project is to build rock sliders and while I was looking at designs, I came across T&T who reccomend unibody frame stiffeners. If this is something I should do, I want to do it before i make sliders. It doesn't look like many of you are running them, so I'm guessing they aren't necessary? My biggest concern is getting the sliders mounted solid on the frame. Although it looks like most of the pressure gets put under the rocker panels anyway I guess. Any suggestions for the sliders/stiffeners? I think I'm going to make sliders like the JKS supernerfs.
I am running TnT's unibody stiffeners, and their HD belly pan. The two really go hand in hand to tie both sides of the rig together.
Additionally, I had my c4x4f rocker rails tied in and welded up.
If you plan on wheeling your XJ, then yes, unibody stiffeners should be near the top of your list... I say recovery and armor should be the first things done to a rig, and, the unibody stiffeners fall under armour as they form the foundation for the rails and t-case skid to attach.

I had IRO rear stiffeners on my last rig before I wrecked it, definitely recommend it especially if you plan on abusing it some, preferably before the abuse happens. It is on my list of to do's to my current rig, particularly for the rear, but I would like to do the whole thing eventually.
If you plan on wheeling hard and on keeping the Jeep for a long time I think it is absolutely necessary to have stiffeners. Depending on what you do for sliders, 2x6 is the best hands down. I've seen by several people have their expensive JCR sliders end up crushing the pinch seams on hard hits. You can't just weld a piece of angle iron to a soda can and expect the can to not be crushed overtime.
