Flowmaster muffler
 

Hey all--wonder if anyone has switched out the stock muffler on a 4.0 Cherokee with a flowmaster--wonder if there is anything positive about this other than changing the exhaust note--ie--increase in power or better fuel economy--thanks--George

To answer your question a ton of guys on here have switched out there mufflers with aftermarket ones. I have the flowmaster super 40 muffler and it sounds great. Ive used a bunch of different kinds of mufflers and i think flowmaster sounds the best. I know there are some videos on youtube of people with flowmaster mufflers on there jeeps. You should check it out. I didnt notice much of a change in mpg's.

Ok well instead of being sarcastic I'll give you my feelings on this. Yes it has been done before. Most use the super 40 or 44 for the best results. With the increased flow of exhaust gases it should help out on your gas mileage also look into maybe increasing the size of your tailpipe to a larger diameter.

i have one personally i went with the super 40. it sounds good and i have a smoother throttle now. my gas mileage did increase by 3 mpg i would say.

x2 on that....come guys, we're newbe's! I 'lost' my cat converter and had a local shop install a full exhaust system with a flowmaster 40 series. It sounds good, yet quiet when I need it to be, not as loud as a cherry bomb. I also like the fact that it is welded rather than crimped. I don't know about fuel mileage or performance as I installed it the day after I bought it. Hope that helps.

X2 specially on a Exhaust question.......

I bought my newest Jeep almost a month ago now.
Mine came with the newer exhaust, it's Dual Exhaust and i'm not even sure what it is.

Is there a way if I get a picture or somewhere I can look to see what it is?

I listened to the youtube videos on the exhaust from flow-master, I have to say mine sounds a lot louder.

One of the reasons why I bought it.
I was told by a lot of people they've never seen dual exhaust on a jeep so was wondering if its hard to do or anything special? If not ohwell just curious.

Btw- 98 Jeep cherokee, 4x4, 4.0L.

Post a pic and we can give it a shot depending on home much mud is on it. So far as putting duals on a jeep it isnt to hard. They arnt true duals because its an inline 6. It will be a single pipe until the muffler and the muffler itself will have two outlets rather an just one.

Okay going to go try and get a pictures now, I just pressure washed it down, and went to a car-wash, still dirty so... I'll go get some pictures though.

I am weary of putting a flowmaster on mine, i am just afraid its going to have too much of a ricer sound. I was thinking of ordering a round magnaflow, it is too hard to judge from youtube videos what it is actually going to sound like. I guess the safe thing to do if a person doesnt want it loud would be to remove the cat and put in a new stock muffler.

I have a flowmaster on mine and it sounds very throaty. Trust me your not going to get a ricey sound. In my opinion flowmaster makes the best sounding muffler for xjs. If you add a free flow cat header and cai you won't be disappointed.
