Flowmaster 40 series exhaust

I'm considering having a Flowmaster 40 series muffle put on my Jeep and was wondering if any of you have had any experience with these on a Cherokee. What kind of sound improvement did you get out of it? Any noticeable performance improvement?

MasterShakeXJ Dec 3, 2008 03:18 PM

not really any performance from mine, but it sounds pretty good. i'd recommend having it welded though, mine leaks with the regular clamps they give you. other than that, pretty easy installation if you choose to just use the clamps.

Did you run it single out or dual out? Do you think going dual out would sound any better?

When I had my Flow i ran it with a turn down....

My new flowmaster super 44 "off road" is good for 50 more "sounds like" horse power!

If you listen and look at it, it'll go as high as 75 hp!

single. you can do a throttle body spacer. i ordered the kit from rusty's, was fairly cheap.

I know it dont matter cuz I have a V8. But I have a thrush muffler dumped under my back seat. Sounds amazing. But I also have a ranger V6 4.0. And It also has a thrush muffler dumped right after the cab. Sounds great!!

I got a 40 series on mine. I noticed bit of a power increase but i did 3" pipes at the same time. Sounds much better than stock though. Not too loud either.

Which Thrush do you have - the "welded"? I've been told by several people (including a muffler shop) that they are in fact FM 40's. They can be had online for $35. I'm seriously thinking of getting one, just worried about the interior drone. How's yours sound on the inside?

I found the Flowmaster 40 too loud for street use... Switched to a Series 50 SUV and its MUCH better....

I have a Flowmaster 40 on my MJ. I ran a 2.5 exhust pipe from the cat back. To finish the system off I installed a 3 inch stainless steel tip with a 45 degree angle. All joints are welded together. As for the sound, I love it. you can not get a better sounding muffler than a flowmaster 40.
