I just had the Midas-version knock-off installed...
Cat back from Midas in Clinton Township Michigan, 200$ out the door.
Included replacinf all the straps/hangers that rusted off.
It sounds great!
I'm really happy with it.
Would've cost me an extra 50-60 for the Flomaster, and they would've had to order it.
They said the 40 is what actuall fits the Cherokee.
It's supposedly a matter of having a centered intake with and offset
output. At least that's what the guy said.

Good-Luck, Billy

Id go with the 40 and 2 1/2 pipe. Ive heard a few and its exactly what im gonna put under mine when i get around to exhaust work. Makes the 4.0 have a V8 sound.

i had the 40 series first with 2.5" piping, now i have the super 44 with an eastern catalytic converter and 2.5" custom bent pipe. i prefer the super 44, a bit louder but not to the point where you cant hear anything else.

the 5o series is a larger casing with three chambers whereas the 40 series has only two chambers , i prefer the 50 on inline 4.0s cause its more mellow and it doesnt have that annoying garbbled racking noise at high rpms and idle it sounds more v8 ish i have a 02 grand cherokee with the fifty and i have it on my xj as well also to prevent the racking all together and a louder deeper sound i would look into having the exhaust dumped before the axel with 3 inch turndowns

Is it legal to dump the exhaust before the axle? i live in MA and idk about the laws that well. but im doing my lift next weekend and while im under there i may just take my tailpipe off just to hear what it sounds like. good or bad idea you think? TIA

i would take a 40 or 44 any day over a 50, the 50s are more of a mellow pipe, i have a 44 i just havent put it on yet, the 44s are designed after the "original" flowmaster 40 series not the super 40, and they sound realllllllly good, best sounding cherokee i have ever heard was a cherokee with a k&n intake, borla header, 2 1/2 piping, magnaflow cat, super 44, with a 3 1/2 inch tip, amazing.

Flowmaster knock off chambered muffler made by Apex exhaust (sub company of Merit exhaust) cost $40. On my 4.0 liter Chreokee.

Sounds better than most Flowmasters IMO. I do Run a 40 series on my ****** Truck....which just sounds wicked awesome for a 4 banger.
